- Daily Site Operations: Oversee and manage day-to-day yard and transloading operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of fluids, petroleum products, and dry bulk materials.
- Staff Management: Lead, supervise, mentor, and provide training and performance management for all site personnel to achieve operational goals.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations; conduct regular site inspections and daily toolbox meetings to maintain a strong safety culture.
- Scheduling and Logistics Coordination: Plan and coordinate inbound rail shipments and outbound trucking schedules to optimize operational flow.
- Customer and Partner Relations: Serve as the main point of contact for clients and third-party trucking partners, delivering high levels of customer service and resolving operational issues promptly.
- Inventory Management: Monitor, track, and manage inventory levels, including tank levels and transloaded goods, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare, maintain, and submit operational reports, including shipment records, inventory levels, and safety compliance logs.
- Equipment Oversight: Ensure all equipment is properly operated, maintained, and repaired as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance operational processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges to minimize disruptions to site activities.
- Outdoor Work: Actively participate in and oversee operations outdoors in various weather conditions to support site activities and staff.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in a supervisory role within the rail, trucking, oilfield, or transportation industry.
- Equipment Operation: Proficient in operating equipment such as skid steers and front-end loaders.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of transloading processes, including rail-to-tank, rail-to-truck, and truck-to-tank operations.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with staff, management, and clients.
- Problem-Solving & Mechanical Aptitude: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform minor equipment repairs is considered an asset.
- Safety Focus: Demonstrated experience in enforcing safety protocols and leading toolbox meetings; strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Certifications: Valid safety and transportation certifications (e.g., IROR or equivalent), and ABSA-accredited boiler certification.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of performing physical tasks and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as needed. On-site attendance is required.
