Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation (RAHF) is looking to hire its newDirector of Philanthropy. Supporting the Vice President of Philanthropy & Stakeholder Relations. The Director of Philanthropy designs, oversees, and executes, strategic fundraising activities for the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundations individual donors. This role develops compelling cases for support, sets fundraising goals, and uses prospect research to guide team strategies and KPIs.

Key Accountabilities:
Major Gift Fundraising and Donor Engagement:
- Donor Meetings and Relationship Building Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects at the $25,000$1M+ level, participating in donor meetings to cultivate, solicit and steward major gift relationships.
- Strategic Fundraising Planning Lead the development of fundraising plans, including goal setting, prospect research, budgeting, and KPI tracking. Work with the Prospect Research team to support donor pipeline development, qualification, and cultivation strategies.
- Proposal & Case Development Draft and edit compelling proposals and case materials in alignment with Foundation priorities and individual donor interests.
- Customized Stewardship Oversee the creation of individualized donor engagement and stewardship plans that deepen relationships and demonstrate impact.
Performance Management and Reporting:
- Progress and KPI Tracking Monitor team and individual progress toward fundraising goals, with a focus on proposal volume, donor engagement activity, and revenue outcomes.
- Proposal Pipeline Oversight Track the status and performance of fundraising proposals, ensuring alignment with team targets and campaign timelines.
- Metrics Accountability Maintain personal donor metrics and ensure timely documentation of engagement activities within internal systems.
- Fundraising Analytics Oversee tracking and analysis of Development Officer performance metrics, including proposals, revenue progress, and donor engagement outcomes.
- Data Integrity and Documentation Ensure accurate and consistent documentation of donor activity in Raisers Edge and related internal systems.
Team Leadership and Internal Collaboration:
- Team Leadership Oversee and provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to a small team of development professionals.
- Support onboarding, training, and performance development to build a high-functioning team aligned with organizational goals.
- Team Support Provide support to team members to ensure consistency in relationship building and stewardship practices.
- Executive Portfolio Support Provide strategic support to the Vice President of Philanthropy & Stakeholder Engagement and CEO in managing high-value donor portfolios, including meeting preparation, follow-up, and relationship coordination.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration Attend and contribute to Foundation-wide strategic planning and cross-functional leadership meetings, offering thoughtful and creative insights and aligning development activities with broader organizational initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- University degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in the not-for-profit sector, preferably within a fundraising or development context.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience directly building, leading, and supporting fundraising teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts in the $25,000 to $1M+ range.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.
- Strong ability to foster collaboration and promote a team-oriented culture within an office environment.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and experience with Raisers Edge.
- Assets:
- Background in planned giving, with an understanding of related strategies and donor motivations.
- CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) designation is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing successful fundraising campaigns.
The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel locally as needed.
