WHAT YOULL DO
As our Bookkeeper, youll play a key role in ensuring our financial systems run smoothly and accurately. Your responsibilities will include:
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including data entry and vendor/client communications.
- Track and record job costs across multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost allocations.
- Prepare general ledger entries and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile credit card statements and manage petty cash.
Payroll & Compliance
- Support bi-weekly payroll processing, including timesheet collection.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll source deduction remittances to the CRA.
- Track holdbacks, lien releases, and compliance with prompt payment legislation.
Billing & Reporting
- Generate progress, draw billing documentation and ensure alignment with contract milestones.
- Maintain digital and paper filing systems for financial and project documentation.
- Assist with monthly reporting, year-end audits.
Liaison & Support
- Coordinate with vendors, and clients as needed.
- Provide administrative support to the Controller or General Manager.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Were looking for a dependable, organized, and collaborative Bookkeeper who brings:
- 35 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction, trades, or mechanical contracting.
- A diploma or certification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field.
- Working experience in bookkeeping using an ERP system, such as QuickBooks, Sage 300, or construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Jonas, Procore, Acumatica, Buildertrend), is preferred.
- Familiarity with job costing, progress billing, and construction accounting practices.
- Solid understanding of Excel and general document management.
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with CCDC contract compliance.
- Familiarity with WorkSafeBC filings and subcontractor insurance tracking.
- Understanding of union or certified payroll reporting (an asset).
