Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Salary: $38.75/hour
Industry: Food Manufacturing

Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Overview:
A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic (Level 1) to support continuous production operations across packaging, processing, and facility systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in performing corrective and preventative maintenance, ensuring all equipment meets safety and GMP standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, install, repair, maintain, and improve a variety of processing and packaging equipment

  • Execute setup, assembly, disassembly, and relocation of bakery and packaging machinery

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to perform maintenance tasks

  • Perform preventative maintenance using CMMS and contribute to reliability improvements

  • Conduct metal fabrication, welding, fitting, and machining to support repair and maintenance work

  • Complete and submit electronic shift reports and assist with production equipment setup

  • Maintain a clean, organized shop and ensure tools and equipment are in proper working condition

  • Support continuous improvement by offering solutions for efficiency and equipment reliability

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, including troubleshooting and PMs

  • Experience using tools such as drill press, grinders, saws, and other machine shop equipment

  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license

  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

Preferred:

  • Millwright License or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Experience in high-speed manufacturing (food industry preferred)

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems

  • Knowledge of working with automated systems and robotics (e.g., Schubert)
