We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager - Accounts Payable (AP) to oversee the end-to-end accounts payable function for a dynamic and growing organization. This leadership role will involve managing a team of AP professionals, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations, and continuously improving processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounts payable team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Review existing AP workflows, identify bottlenecks, and drive process enhancements to support operational efficiency.
  • Supervise day-to-day AP activities including invoice processing, payments, vendor account management, and reconciliation.
  • Monitor and manage monthly closing activities related to AP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and submit HST filings in compliance with tax regulations and internal deadlines.
  • Ensure timely remittance of corporate tax installments and CBSA payments to the CRA.
  • Maintain internal controls by enforcing policy compliance across expense reports and supplier payments.
  • Track and report on key AP performance metrics; prepare dashboards and summaries for senior leadership.
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions and journal entries as part of month-end procedures.
  • Produce monthly reconciliations for accounts payable, banking, and prepaid accounts.
  • Partner with internal teams and external auditors to support AP and treasury-related audits.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation and industry practices to ensure the department aligns with internal and external compliance standards.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader risk management and safety initiatives, including health, food, and environmental safety protocols.
  • Participate in ad hoc financial projects and support cross-functional teams as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation (completed or in progress) is strongly preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial AP role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, macros).
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing or product-based environment is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present insights to senior leadership.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of financial compliance, tax regulations, and internal control best practices.
