About the Role

Nelson Education is looking for a Content Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Content Management, you will work within a team environment to provide editorial support to Publishers and Project Managers. You will assume increasing levels of responsibility for the development of selected core and supplementary projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate the market-driven review of proposals and draft manuscripts for ground-up and revised educational materials.
  • Provide editorial assistance to Project Managers, Publishers, and other team members who are both in-house and freelance.
  • Help prepare manuscripts for production by tagging, incorporating reviewer feedback and editorial changes, completing metadata sheets, preparing asset logs and art manuscripts, and PDF mark-up as required.
  • Foster effective and efficient communication with internal and external colleagues and customers.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree
  • Certificate/degree from college or university publishing program an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated individual with good problem-solving skills and strong customer service focus
  • Superior time management skills, flexibility to shift between tasks easily, and demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat; Experience with SmartSheet and JIRA an asset; Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change and thrives on learning new technology and skills, including a willingness to accept feedback to improve and hone editorial skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to foster and maintain good working relationships among internal and external customers.
  • Experience in K-12 or the education industry is considered an asset.
