The Company:
Our Client believes in uncompromising quality when it comes to their products. They are a specialty meat processing and distribution company spanning six plants in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, serving both domestic and international markets. The pork division location is currently looking for a Maintenance Manager to join their team based out of our location in Langley.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintenance across two facilities, including all production equipment, operation and maintenance of utility services and building facilities.
This role will lead and manage both manpower and operations related to the maintenance of the production plants. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment within the facilities. This role establishes standards and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principals and safety regulations.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
• Accountable for maintenance of all production equipment, operation and maintenance of utility services and building facilities.
• Manage a team comprised of hourly maintenance team members.
• Detailed knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements –HACCP, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP), Preventive Controls, etc.
• Inspections to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment and machinery with a systematic PM schedule (>95% PM completion)
• Improve and Implement Preventative Maintenance Programs for all equipment and processes, by well-conceived plans of inspection, lubrication, adjustments, repair and overhaul
• Plan and carry out corrective repairs to alleviate unsatisfactory conditions found during the start-up and equipment inspections
• Engineering involves alterations and improvements in existing equipment and building to minimize breakdowns (Design for manufacturability / favorable plant layouts)
• Attend to unscheduled work or emergency repairs deemed necessary to troubleshoot immediately in order to ensure line uptime and productivity is not negatively impacted
• Working with team and contractor on infrastructure upgrade projects to ensure modernization of plant interior and exterior
• Ensure critical spare parts are available within 24 hrs. (spare part criticality)
• Track work orders and part usage in maintenance system to generate equipment repair history and condition assessment to be incorporated into equipment replacement plans or rebuilds/overhauls
• Solid technical understanding of process and practice related to the effective use and maintenance of equipment and materials
• Leads by example, demonstrating competency in all food and work safety practices.
Qualifications & Competencies:
· Degree Or Diploma in Engineering or related field would be an asset.
· Red Seal Trade Certification would be an asset but not required.
· 10+ year's progressive maintenance / manufacturing / supervisory experience.
· Must be knowledgeable and be able to follow GMPs, Food Safety and Health and Safety requirements
· Possesses sound knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing equipment. Including PLCs.
· Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and Excel.
· Experience with food processing, CFIA and HACCP and BRC OR SQF would be an asset
· Aptitude and interest for learning while demonstrating leadership in a progressive work environment.
· Highly developed interpersonal and problem solving skills
· Ability to delegate and hold people accountable for results/satisfactory completion of tasks
· Effective team building skills.
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with effective presentation skills both formally and informally.
