Job Description

Head of Finance – Treasure Mills

The Opportunity

Treasure Mills is seeking a hands-on, operationally focused Head of Finance to lead and elevate its finance function. This is a unique opportunity to shape the financial direction of a growing food manufacturer that is scaling rapidly across retail and distribution channels. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and bring strong financial acumen, systems thinking, and a passion for continuous improvement.

This role is not a traditional back-office finance function—it's a strategic leadership role, working closely with the CEO and executive team to align finance with business growth. The Head of Finance will own all aspects of FP&A, cost management, data infrastructure, internal controls, and team leadership, helping to build a scalable, insights-driven finance operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting across all departments.
  • Build dashboards and KPIs to support decision-making in sales, operations, and supply chain.
  • Support costing accuracy, margin tracking, and provide financial input into supplier and customer discussions.
  • Lead the evolution of the company's finance systems by enhancing the use of its ERP platform (Spire), improving reporting capabilities, streamlining workflows, and driving better financial visibility and analytics.
  • Streamline and automate financial processes, procedures, and reporting systems; implement internal controls to enhance accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting and unified financial data infrastructure.
  • Drive financial accountability and cross-departmental visibility of key metrics.
  • Develop and lead operational performance reviews (financial management reports & KPIs) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Champion the annual operating and capital budgeting processes; align with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Oversee general accounting functions including payroll, AR/AP, costing, cash flow, inventory, fixed assets, and tax compliance.
  • Work with production and supply chain to manage cost, forecast, and improve budget planning processes.
  • Review gross and net profit margin results and report monthly across business units and related entities.
  • Analyze and present financial results clearly and accurately; prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process; liaise with external auditors, finance advisors, and the executive team.
  • Provide oversight of day-to-day accounting operations through leadership of the finance team (Bookkeeper, AP/AR, Order Entry).
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance finance culture grounded in accountability and operational insight.

Candidate Profile

  • Must-Have Qualifications
  • CPA designation or MBA/Finance degree.
  • 7–12 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in a mid-sized or growth-stage company.
  • Experience leading all aspects of a finance function in an entrepreneurial or founder-led business.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communicator—able to clearly articulate financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles including product costing and margin analysis.
  • Familiarity with distribution, logistics, and supply chain finance within a manufacturing or CPG environment.
  • Ideal Experience
  • Exposure to food manufacturing or adjacent industries is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience supporting commercial teams with pricing, trade investment, and customer profitability analysis.
  • Track record of driving process improvement and scaling finance functions in dynamic environments.
  • Leadership & Working Style
  • Assertive yet collaborative—comfortable challenging assumptions while building trust.
  • Mentally agile and detail-oriented—able to juggle competing priorities and synthesize complex information.
  • Systems thinker—able to build scalable processes and workflows that support growth.
  • Curious, organized, and driven by operational results.
