Responsibilities:
- Take lead on devising and implementing global compliance programs and policies, including responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Legal research and regulatory analysis regarding the latest legislative changes.
- Ensure adherence to policies and standards across the organization and external third-party partners.
- Provide legal advice to internal teams and support on contract review/drafting.
- Evaluate compliance controls and implement improved policies, procedures and best practices.
- Support compliance-related investigations and reporting.
- Design and deliver compliance training.
- Oversee third-party due diligence and compliance efforts in global procurement.
- Called to the Bar in Canada
- 2 to 4 years of post call experience in legal practice
- Experience in areas such as regulatory law, administrative law, international trade or corporate commercial law
- Experience in the mining or natural resources industry is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is beneficial although not critical.
