We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with a proven interest in building design and sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals for an immediate full-time position. The incumbent will work under the supervision of senior leaders and with design team members, clients, and others on various projects. This position is hybrid requiring 4 days in the office with the option for remote work on Fridays.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform system design calculations, load calculations, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
- Prepare design calculations and design briefs for equipment.
- Prepare design sketches for lighting/power/security/IT building systems.
- Participate in field engineering assignments.
- Develop data analytics tools for engineering projects.
- Review of vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs equipment sizing.
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines to ensure the accuracy of design, and the timely flow of information throughout the project.
- Develop and recommend improvements in design standards and improve work quality.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
- Understanding of the construction industry specific to electrical building systems
- Minimum of 5 years' professional experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong computer skills including understanding of data analytics.
- Experience with 2D and 3D design tools (AutoCAD/Revit).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis, problem solving and strategic thinking.
- Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Ability to manage time appropriately and multi-task with multiple projects to meet deadlines.
