Senior Quality Release Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track finished product samples which are sent to third party labs for active and microbiological testing
  • Work closely with Logistics, Customer Service and/or Inventory Planners to determine what SKU's or lot codes of finished product require rush testing
  • Work closely with suppliers to determine products requiring priority release as required by customer demand. Ensure samples are sent out in a timely manner as per Iovate's testing requirements
  • Ensure lines of communication between IHS QA and manufacturer Quality departments are open so that IHS is notified in a timely manner of any deviations that may delay release of product
  • Determine estimated due dates and follow-up with lab and/or co-packers to ensure timely results; request retests if required
  • Upon receipt of COAs and lab results for each product/lot code – review all results to determine that specifications are met; contact appropriate person(s) to resolve any deviations or issues
  • Review batch records, as required
  • Co-ordinate product release priorities of Quality Assurance release personnel
  • Communicate to internal stakeholder's changes to release dates communicated due issues and/or deviations related to the release of high priority items on a daily basis
  • Log COAs into Manufacturer COAs Access Database
  • Generate Deviations as per Iovate's process for any product/lot code that does not meet specifications
  • Manage IHS Deviation system to ensure timely follow-up and closure of deviations generated
  • Assess the status of products in electronic inventory system (ERP D365) to ensure product SKU's/lots are released
  • Request products that require further evaluations before release from Iovate distribution center; i.e. for ID Testing of Canadian SKU's or for further testing of active and/or microbiological testing or for Stability/Shelf Life studies as required
  • Ensure required products are ID tested and that results are documented; communicate related issues and/or deviations to required personnel and/or co-packers
  • Provide GMP Training for new employees or refresher training to existing employees as required
  • Attend Product Priority & IRA meetings with Production Planning and Customer Service groups as required representing QA by providing updates on WL items and receive info on upcoming high priority releases
  • Update or generate Standard Operating Procedures as required
  • Assist in Customer Complaints investigations as required
  • Work closely with Safety Assurance group to gather information for Adverse Event reporting of products produced and released to market
  • Other role related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Biological, Chemical or Food Sciences, Quality Assurance or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of Quality Assurance, food, or nutraceutical or pharmaceutical experience preferably within a consumer packaged goods environment
  • Experience working with quality systems (ie. cGMPs, GMPs, etc)
  • Experience in writing standard operating procedures and/or quality manuals
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis tools and CAPA
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills working with cross-functional business partners
  • Experience with supplier quality management and Co-manufacturers would be an asset
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
