We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst of Financial Reporting to join our busy financial reporting team on a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension/permanency.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in quarterly and annual financial close processes relating to the accounting and associated financial statement disclosures
- Assist in the preparation of external IFRS and GAAP financial statements
- Prepare or review monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations for various GL accounts. Identify imbalances and pursue resolution with line of business teams
- Ensure the accurate and timely recording of period end journal entries in support of the financial close process.
- Act as a subject matter expert for other members of the Financial Reporting team and line of business teams for routine transaction activity.
- Research, recommend and implement solutions to improve the effectiveness of internal controls within the area
- Research, recommend and implement solutions for complex new and existing transactional accounting issues and disclosure requirements
- Prepare or review reports and complete surveys for internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare financial information, regulatory reports and reports to senior management
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and support audit requests
- Provide back up to team as required
- Participate in projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of a university degree with courses in accounting, business and mathematics
- Experience in the financial services/insurance industry preferred
- Experience with RiskIntegrity software is an asset
- Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software, with advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerBI competency strongly preferred
- CPA designation
- Strong proficiency with IFRS, including IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts, investment accounting, fund accounting and reporting
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills
