The qualified Grinder Operator will support the Production Team. The position is responsible for grinding on precision components.
Position: Cylindrical Grinder, Permanent, Full-time
Location: Highway 400 and Finch Avenue
Shift: 4:30pm to 1:00am, Monday to Friday
This position is responsible for efficient machining processes required to manufacture customer
parts to drawings and specifications, adhering to customer prints and company routings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setting up and operating grinder to machine work pieces according to specifications, tooling
- instructions, and standard charts.
- Reading blueprints and job orders for product specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances,
- and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and
- determining the sequence of operations. Selecting, positioning, and securing tool in tool
- holders.
- Positions and secures work piece in holding device and sets specified feeds, speeds, and
- depths for grinding.
- Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to
- specifications, using measuring instruments, such as bore gauges.
- Ensuring that parts are created in a timely manner, and according to the quality standards of
- the organization.
- Communicates issues and problems to the Supervisor/Lead Hand.
- Performing other duties as required by the Supervisor/Lead Hand.

- Know, understand and employ established rules and procedures for handling materials,
- equipment and processes (e.g. use proper lifting techniques, etc.)
- Use equipment and materials only in the manner intended
- Attend required safety training programs and apply knowledge gained from these training
- sessions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Machinist Technician Diploma or working towards diploma; or an apprenticeship in
- Machining.
- Work experience in a machining environment.
- Experience with working from process sheets, sketches and tool sheets
- Ability to obtain excellence in customer satisfaction.
- Consistent conformance to customer requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot any problems that might come up while operating the machine
- Able to analyze and work towards continuous improvement processes
- Ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs
