Job Title: Data Engineer – Spark & Cloud Data Pipelines
Model: Remote, or Hybrid
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong Spark and cloud data processing experience to design, build, and optimize high-performance data pipelines in a dynamic enterprise environment. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and advanced analytics to power data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role involves close collaboration with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders to implement robust and scalable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Spark and Databricks to support data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Workflow Orchestration:
- Build and deploy data workflows that automate ingestion, transformation, and orchestration of large-scale data sets.
- Data Quality & Observability:
- Implement data validation checks, error-handling mechanisms, and observability features to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and solution architects to define technical data solutions aligned with analytics and reporting needs.
- Cloud Data Engineering:
- Work within distributed data systems and cloud-based platforms (AWS), leveraging best practices in security, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Clean Code & DevOps Practices:
- Write modular, testable, and production-ready code in Python, with strong adherence to CI/CD pipelines, version control, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles where applicable.
- Performance Tuning:
- Optimize job execution, query performance, and storage solutions for large volumes of data, ensuring speed and efficiency.
- Monitoring & Reliability:
- Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and drive continuous improvement to maintain reliable data operations.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles within complex enterprise environments
- Proficiency in Python programming, with a focus on clean code, packaging, and automated testing
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Databricks
- Proven ability to build production-grade data pipelines from scratch
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- 3 years of experience in Snowflake and/or Databricks workspace/environment management
- Experience with real-time data streaming tools such as Kafka or Spark Streaming
- Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
Tools & Technologies:
- Languages & Frameworks: Python, Spark
- Platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, AWS
- DevOps & IaC: Git, CI/CD, Terraform (optional)
- Orchestration & Monitoring: Airflow, custom observability tools (preferred)
