We are presently accepting resumes for a Child and Family Services Supervisor to ensure the provision of high-quality support to children, youth, adults and families supported based upon Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances.

This position provides leadership and supervision, working in the Family Services and Preschool Services Department areas providing oversight of applicable placements and programs within Family Services under the appropriate relevant legislation and Agency Standards of Practice and in accordance with the stated goals of Empower Simcoe. This is a 12-month contract position with possibility of extension

Compensation package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week
  • Minimum starting rate of $37.16 or $72,462 annualized
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay

Minimum Requirements for this position include:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in developmental services, child development, health sciences or a closely related field; and/or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Minimum of two years recent full-time work experience working in a social service agency supporting children, youth and adults who have a disability and their families. Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership and supervisory principles in an ever-changing environment, such as motivation and development of staff; effective delegation; conflict resolution and crisis management
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills; high degree of emotional intelligence, collaborative and consultative skills, demonstrated willingness to collaborate with various agency programs
  • Working knowledge of The Council on Quality and Leadership values and have the proven ability to convert the Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances into operational practices at all sites and programs; knowledge of and proven skills in providing case management from a variety of perspectives and service coordination; Demonstrated knowledge of child welfare, the field of intellectual disabilities.
  • French language is an asset.

Special factors of this position:

  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required.
  • Providing coverage for other Supervisors within Operational Leadership team in their absence as outlined by the Manager.
  • On a rotational basis, participating fully in a 24-hour, seven day per week on-call support system that provides emergency support to the Agency during evening, weekends and holiday periods.
  • Onsite presence required, with the exception of job responsibilities that occur offsite, to promote team building and ensure accountability of quality of services.
  • Valid drivers' license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Ensuring all legislative compliance requirements and acts are being upheld. Including but not limited to Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, Quality Assurance Measures Legislation, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, Ministry of Labour Regulations, Human Rights Act, Collective Agreement (if applicable), Fire Compliance Regulations, and other Acts and Legislations as it applies to the role
  • Support the work of the established Children, Youth and Family partnerships across Simcoe County, including participation at community planning tables.
  • Participation in regular meetings with the Children's Treatment Network of Simcoe York.
  • Promoting Purchased Services Programs with Community Partners.
  • Build high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and development, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Providing training and regular monitoring of all employees regarding all legislative compliance requirements and acts.
  • Assist the Manager in identifying needs and recommending ways to meet the needs as they pertain to the program.
  • Overseeing the intake process and assignment of applicable workers and coordinating the admission and discharge planning of people supported.
  • Facilitating assessments or evaluations for individuals and families.
  • Monitoring the placements and the quality of support that the people supported are receiving and meeting with support and care providers on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring records of people supported are maintained in accordance with appropriate legislation and the Standards of Practice of the Agency.
  • Oversee day to day operations of applicable sites and complete routine visits to applicable sites, support providers and caregivers in accordance with appropriate legislation and the Standards of Practice of the Agency.
  • Completing an annual review and developing a yearly plan of goals for each support provider.
  • Completing quarterly bank reconciliations for persons receiving support.
  • Monitoring participation in reliability interviews and assisting team to integrate results of this process into planning with individuals.
  • Participation in the selection, supervision and evaluation of respite providers for people supported in placements.
  • Developing, implementing and overseeing the implementation of the assigned Purchased Services.
  • Preparation of annual contracts for purchased services.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of support documentation including but not limited to the A.I.M.S documents, Individual Support Plan, Personalized Supports, Behaviour Support Plan, Health, Safety and Financial Audits, Rights Assessments, as applicable, etc.
  • Ensuring that staff are trained in using all computer programs: i.e.: A.I.M.S, PolicyTech, Comvida, Surge Learning, and Sharepoint, etc.
  • Conducting performance appraisals with staff in a timely and professional manner; addressing performance concerns with employees effectively.
  • Participating in budgeting and monitoring expenditures, thereby ensuring the effective use of all resources assigned to their areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all legislative, licensing, funding and related accountability mechanisms are fully adhered to.
