About the Role
We are looking for an awesome, self-driven Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our paediatric home care team. You'll be supporting children with daily care needs and complex medical routines in the comfort of their homes.
Client Highlight:
We are currently seeking one nurse to support a family in Aurora caring for 3-month-old twins.
- One twin has an NG tube (3 nights/week)
- The other requires support with feeding and medication administration (1 night/week)
Schedule for This Client:
- Overnights: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays from 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM; Saturdays from 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs (hygiene assistance, bathing, and medications administration) that is within the scope of practice for a Register Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
- Provide exceptional patient care as outlined in their care plans, supporting patients with all applicable medical needs
- Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly
- Assists clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises as required
- Observe the patients' medical health as well as their physical and mental responses
- Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description
- Completes records and documentation accurately and thoroughly
Requirements
Must have Paediatric experience with any of the following interventions:
- Tracheostomy suctioning
- Ventilators
- G and J tube feeding *Experience with NG tubes an asset.
- Bi-pap or C-pap
- Cough assist
- Oxygenation
- Seizure monitoring
Other requirements include:
- An asset if you own vehicle and have a valid driver's licence (not required)
- Negative TB Test completed within the last year
- CNO Registration and Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Certificate
- COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
- Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid WHMIS2015 certification from the last year
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
- Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
