DescriptionThe Operations Intern will support both Human Resources and Operations functions, with a focus on advancing the organization's Equity Project. Working closely with the HR team, the intern will assist in improving recruitment, onboarding, and departmental policies to align with equity and inclusion practices. They will also support day-to-day operational activities, including facility communications, data entry, database management, vendor invoice processing, and general office administration. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment, contributing to organizational initiatives that enhance internal systems, support staff, and ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and executing the Equity Project, contributing to the enhancement of organizational diversity and inclusion practices.
  • Improve recruitment and onboarding processes by applying the Equity Project framework.
  • Assist with HR tasks, including reviewing and enhancing departmental policies and procedures to align with the Equity Project.
  • Support operational tasks, including facility communications and coordination with various departments, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Input data and maintain updated admission and HR databases.
  • Support key office administration and systems by monitoring and managing email inboxes, responding to general inquiries, and escalating specific issues as needed.
  • Following maintenance schedules of office equipment like printers, copiers, and IT systems, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
  • Submitting vendor invoices in a timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseMust-haves
  • College or University graduate from a program in Human Resources, Business, Art Administration, Building Management, Museum Studies, Psychology or other related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Human Resources
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and practices, including recruitment, onboarding, workplace safety and Ontario employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision
  • Accountable & Results Oriented: Demonstrates ethical behaviour and accountability
  • This position is funded under the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage internship program. An individual must follow the Young Canada Works eligibility criteria.

  • A strong interest in contemporary art and familiarity with the arts and cultural landscape in Toronto an asset
  • Proficiency in Gsuite and database management
