Job Description

The High Voltage Safety Integration Engineer will be responsible for design crash avoidance packaging to ensure the vehicle is compliant to vehicle safety regulations to review vehicle tree drawings, supplier CAE analysis results and virtual engineering crash simulation results iteratively for all crash modes.

  • Provide feedback for design robustness. Track and convey issues discovered, update open issues list in real time.
  • Maintain the product book for all electrified programs for safety and compliance items.
  • Document best practices will be updated for Company's internal continuous improvement.
  • Engineer in this position shall maintain the score card for management review, provide required technical assessment to management and the vehicle teams to assure successful and timely implementation of the safety requirements.
  • Facilitate creation of safety procedures, such as first responder's guide, power up and power procedures, service procedures.
  • Engineer is required to be familiar with safety regulations, safety feature implementation, packaging constraints and vehicle level CAD drawings.
  • Work with powertrain Center of Excellence team and HV safety subsystem team to ensure best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years in product engineering design and development, with emphasis on systems and product development
  • Have knowledge and understanding of development tools and techniques such as Value and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, design for manufacture, design for assembly and design for service
  • Have experience in working with suppliers to ensure that best practices and lesson learned are implemented in the component design & document these for company's internal continuous improvements
  • Have experience in crash simulation/test in automotive
  • Have experience in the crash test results analysis and the impact on the vehicle safety
  • Experience in electrical vehicle is suitable
  • Have experience in working with vehicle level component packaging of power inverters, chargers, electrical motors, and motor generator units for mechanical integration between suppliers, FCA packaging and non-technical team members.
  • Familiar with Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (Gd/t) of the drawing
  • Familiar with CAD drawings
  • Familiar with TEAM Center or equivalent system
  • Familiar with basic mechanical engineering fundamentals related to the design, stress analysis, materials etc.
  • Have at least basic knowledge of connector engineering
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Coordinate activities with cross functional teams (HV Safety validation, crash team, program team,)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiar with FMVSS305 and ECEr100 regulations
  • Knowledge of power electronics systems and HEV & BEV experience

Good to have :

  • Review and provide feedback on the component mechanical durability and fatigue analysis to suppliers for design robustness
  • Familiar and understand casting materials, processes especially high pressure die casting, mold flow simulations & validation testing
  • Knowledge on FCA assembly plant operations and overall development process
