Intermediate Mechanical Engineer
PulseMedica is searching for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our world-class team. Reporting to the Mechanical Design Lead, this person will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and testing of mechanical subsystems within our ophthalmic imaging and laser treatment platform. This hands-on role will provide you with exposure to complex opto-mechanical assemblies, high-precision motion systems, and medical device product development.

The Opportunity
This role offers an exciting chance to collaborate with a dynamic and skilled team, contributing directly to the design and development of cutting-edge medical technology. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and integration of advanced components that power our ophthalmic imaging and laser treatment platform. This is a hands-on position with real impact on the direction and success of our innovative product.
The person will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development and testing of mechanical components, including optical mounts, enclosures, motion systems, and thermal management solutions.
- Creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using onShape.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (optical, electrical, software) to ensure successful system integration. - Supporting design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) processes.
Assisting in vendor selection and coordination for prototyping and production. - Executing verification and validation activities in accordance with medical device standards.
- Participating in product risk assessments and contributing to design reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in a regulated environment or with complex electromechanical systems.
What you bring
- Experience with CAD software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerance analysis, and material selection.
- Experience with thermal management, motion control, or opto-mechanical systems is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Prior experience in the medical device or precision instrumentation industry is considered an asset.
Anticipated Start Date: as soon as a suitable candidate is found
Duration: Full time Permanent (40 hours per week)
Salary: Commensurate to experience and qualifications
