Primary Objective

The Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing daily farm activities, leading maintenance efforts, and managing a diverse team to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operations.

Reporting to the CEO, this role coordinates crop production and facility upkeep, drives process improvements, and ensures adherence to agricultural best practices.

The manager will also play a key role in staff development, performance management, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

1. Farm Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee the day-to-day farm operations, including daily farm and maintenance meetings, regular crop walks, alarms, etc.

  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, customers, and consultants under guidance from the Head Grower and CEO

  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly status update reports to CEO to monitor all farm operation and maintenance KPIs

  • Coordinate crop planting and cleanout activities

  • Lead or support execution of special projects, including developing and implementing new systems, procedures, and process improvements

  • Oversee and prioritize ongoing maintenance tasks and repairs across facilities, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations. Maintenance includes farm infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, housing, and grounds

  • Maintain and improve: preventative maintenance program and the tools and small parts back-stock inventory and usage

  • Good mechanical and electrical acumen

2. People Management & Leadership

  • Directly manage and provide support to the Farm Team to ensure efficient workflow and deliverables are met.

  • Train, coach, and mentor supervisory staff—including growers, IPM technicians, and operational leads—on agricultural practices, equipment operation, safety, and workplace procedures, including weekly one on ones to support corporate annual goals.

  • Develop and implement training matrices for continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate supervisor performance, monitor team productivity and quality, and offer actionable feedback; provide accountability.

  • Coordinate with supervisors and the HR office on labour planning, recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training of offshore and local labour.

  • Identify and resolve workforce-related issues to promote a safe, inclusive, and productive working environment.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability by leading initiatives to enhance efficiency, communication, and team development.

3. Compliance & Administration

  • Support budget planning and oversight for maintenance, supplies, and equipment needs.

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable health, food safety, environmental, and workplace safety regulations.

  • Conduct regular inspections of crops, facilities, and team activities to ensure adherence to internal standards and legal requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support company objectives and operational excellence.

Other (travel, working conditions, unusual work schedules)

  • Exposure to noisy, hot and cold refrigerated environments (Often)

  • Working alone and with a team on a continuous basis

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, sitting, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching may be required
