Residing in Ontario, the Field Service Technician will be focused on serving customers by installing new labelling equipment, industrial thermal transfer printers and ink jet printers (CIJ, TIJ, Piezo Electric) at the customer's site, as well as repairing, servicing/maintaining and training on automated labelling systems, print & apply applicators, thermal transfer printers and ink jet printers.

The successful candidate for this role will possess equal parts of mechanical/ electrical/ technical ability, a can-do attitude, excellent customer service skills and attention to detail. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Under remote supervision, the technician is responsible for delivering service, repair and installation related activities at customer sites for all products distributed or supported by the company.
  • Read and review plans, specifications and other documentation to prepare for installations.
  • Train customer on the set up, operation and troubleshooting of equipment, as well as provide troubleshooting of equipment and provide technical consultation and installation assistance to on-site personnel.
  • Perform readiness preparation and start-up monitoring of newly installed equipment to include calibrating, configuring, testing and evaluating all assigned installations.
  • Respond to service calls promptly to minimize downtime and inspect malfunctioning equipment to determine the nature and scope of the problem.
  • Estimate problem resolution by material cost, supplies and labour.
  • Describe symptoms, problems and causes on detailed service work order reports.
  • Provide support to sales personnel when required, including equipment demonstrations on location (customer site), and in-house (Weber facility).
  • Maintain and grow customer rapport. Build positive customer relationships, both on-site and by telephone support.
  • Daily contact with the Dispatch Center, parts order and technical support departments.
  • Overnight travel may occur as required. This includes out of province travel, out of country travel, after-hours support/ over-time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

College or technical/ mechanical degree (or equivalent experience). Bench repair experience on packaging/ industrial equipment & industrial controls, preferably with thermal transfer printers, labelling machines, inkjet printing systems (CIJ, TIJ, Piezo Electric).

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to work without close supervision.
  • Must have an effective communication style that builds customer's trust and satisfaction; and maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driver's abstract and valid passport.
  • Must have a usable credit card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel by various means of transportation (vehicle, airplane, train, etc.)
  • The Field Service Technician is exposed to different environments and locations in order to perform requested service, such as dust, dirt, fumes, heat, cold, noise and inclement weather.
