Job Summary:

Reporting to the Graphics Team Leader, the Graphics Designer is accountable for creating and developing high-quality graphical interfaces for HVAC, health care and security systems. This role requires a strong understanding of BAS principles, graphic design software, and user experience (UX) best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for BAS platforms, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
  • Create dynamic and interactive system graphics, including floor plans, equipment layouts, dashboards, and animations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand system requirements and translate them into effective visual representations.
  • Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and BAS-specific graphic tools to create high-quality visuals.
  • Read/understand mechanical drawings, shop drawings, and controller databases to produce Graphical User Interfaces.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and functionality of graphics within the BAS environment.
  • Create solutions to improve the quality/cost efficiency of the graphics.
  • Communicate with clients to improve the usability of the graphics.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in BAS graphics design.
  • Assist in identifying inefficiencies in the graphics creation process and to help develop solutions to address such inefficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of automation systems, HVAC, electrical concepts and building operations.
  • Skilled in graphical design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Visio, and Photoshop) is an asset.
  • Knowledge & interpretation of Electrical & Mechanical drawings.
  • Understanding of control theory and control concepts.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI design principles for control systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, Visio and strong PC skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
