Matrix HR is currently seeking a Construction Site Lead Hand for a permanent position in Calgary, AB. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who leads by example, isn't afraid to get hands-on, and takes pride in keeping projects running smoothly. Playing a vital part of the construction process. With a strong working knowledge of construction methods, a commitment to safety, and top-tier relationship-building skills, you'll help ensure everything runs smoothly, safely, and on schedule.

About the Role:

Technical Skills & Site Operations:

  • Support Site Foremen in planning and executing daily construction tasks
  • Review scopes of work and ensure they're accurate and feasible
  • Assist with equipment selection and manage site tool inventory
  • Coordinate field staff and monitor task completion and quality
  • Conduct daily safety discussions and verify required PPE and documentation
  • Track rental equipment use and return timelines

Team & Relationship Management

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment with staff, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Communicate daily with the project team to identify and resolve concerns

Quality & Cost Control

  • Measure productivity and track progress against construction schedules
  • Conduct constructability reviews to improve execution
  • Provide cost-effective solutions and manage site logistics
  • Assist with warranty-related work and deficiency resolutions
Health & Safety Leadership
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe worksite
  • Assist with risk management plans and ensure compliance with COR-level standards
  • Perform daily hazard assessments and lead toolbox talks
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction
  • Previous lead hand or skilled trades experience (supervisory motivation a must!)
  • Relevant post-secondary or trades certification and safety training (First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of construction practices, WCB regulations, and OHS standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tech-savvy approach to site management
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites in and around Calgary
