About the Innu Round Table Secretariat (IRTS)

The Innu Round Table Secretariat is dedicated to the collective well-being of Sheshatshiu and Mushuau Innu. Effective April 1, 2016, the Labrador Innu communities of Natuashish and Sheshatshiu have delivered the Innu Income Support Program in alignment with provincial rates and policies. To ensure meaningful outcomes, the program incorporates integrated case management and proactive strategies aimed at reducing long-term dependency on income support.

About the Position

The Outreach Client Services Officer (CSO) plays a vital role in connecting individuals and families to the services they need. Based in Sheshatshiu, NL, with responsibilities also at the Housing Hub in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, this position reports to the Client Services Manager. The Outreach CSO supports clients in Sheshatshiu, Natuashish, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay, helping them access a wide range of services, including financial assistance, emergency support, medical services, and employment-related programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide outreach services to individuals and families facing challenges such as housing, low income, emergency needs.

Develop and manage individualized case service plans in collaboration with the Client Services Manager and other service providers.

Assist clients with applications, assess eligibility for benefits, and guide them through each step of the process.

Assist clients in completing applications for provincial and federal government programs and support services (e.g., MCP, SIN, EI, etc.).

Work closely with the Housing Hub to deliver wrap-around, coordinated support to residents.

Ensure all required documentation is submitted and register new cases in the case management system.

Deliver culturally respectful and linguistically appropriate support tailored to the needs of Innu clients.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education and/or experience in social services is an asset.

Experience working in an Innu community or with an Indigenous service provider.

Knowledge of Income Support program regulations and practical experience with related services.

Comfortable using computers and electronic case management systems.

Fluency in Innu-Aimun is considered a strong asset.

Must provide Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check upon request.

Valid drivers license.
