What is the role?
As a CAD Manager at LEA, you will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of CAD and BIM standards across civil infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in driving design consistency, improving workflow efficiency, and supporting project teams with technical expertise and strategic guidance. This position requires strong leadership in managing digital design tools and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing. You will collaborate closely with engineering leads, project managers, and IT to ensure CAD systems and processes align with both client expectations and internal quality standards.

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
CAD/BIM Standards & Quality Control
- Develop, implement and monitor CAD/BIM design standards and procedures including templates, libraries, and layering systems as required by public and private sector clients to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Establish and control a quality management system to review drawings for readability, accuracy, presentation, and adherence to design standards.
- Review and contribute to project deliverables (e.g., grading, servicing, stormwater, and utility plans) to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with municipal standards.
- Identify opportunities for increasing workflow efficiency and provide recommendations for best practices.
Project Planning and Support
- Plan, organize and manage CAD/BIM work plans for different project teams, to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate drafting resources and schedules to meet project milestones and deliverables within budget and scope.
- Support multi-disciplinary design teams through all project phasesfrom proposal support and concept design through to detailed design and construction documentation.
- Provide guidance and direction to project teams to ensure operational and technical efficiency.
Training and Staff Support
- Organize and conduct training for various employees, including drafters, designers and engineers through Lunch-and-learn, Webinars and/or other training methods/options.
- Assist with onboarding new team members by ensuring proper access to CAD systems and orientation on drafting standards.
Systems and Infrastructure Management
- Plan and manage infrastructure budget and requirements including hardware and software.
- Liaise with engineering leads and the IT department regarding technical issues and CAD/BIM system issues.
- Organize server and folder structures, supporting files, and archives.
- Professional Development and Other Responsibilities
- Maintaining professional growth and development for LEAs design capabilities by keeping up with the latest engineering industry trend, software, and technology.
- Other duties and responsibilities within the scope of the CAD Management.
The qualifications you need:
- 7-10 Years in CAD Management for Civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of transit, land development and municipal Engineering principles, design standards and Jurisdictional Design Guidelines (OPSS/OPSD, TAC, MTO, and AODA).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with a strong understanding of the problems that may arise from how they interact with other programs and peripherals.
- ProjectWise, BIM and ACC experience is an asset.
- Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
- Team player, able to prioritize tasks with exceptional organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and professional presentation skills.
- Strong project management, analytical and technical skills.
