As the Homestay Liaison at GBA you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and successful integration of international students into their host families and communities. Reporting to the Executive Management, you will oversee the coordination of student support services, act as a liaison between students and host families, and conduct regular checks to ensure that housing meets the safety standards set by GBA. Your responsibilities will include mitigating any issues that arise between students and host families, providing guidance and support to both parties, and conducting spot checks to uphold GBA's safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Homestay Liaison:
- Act as a primary point of contact for international students, addressing their concerns, needs, and challenges related to homestay accommodations.
- Provide guidance and support to host families and house parents abroad on effectively integrating students into their homes and communities.
- Mediate conflicts and mitigate issues that arise between students and host families, fostering open communication and understanding.
Liaison and Communication:
- Serve as a bridge between international students, host families, and house parents abroad, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Conduct regular check-ins with students and host families to assess their satisfaction and well-being, addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Communicate GBA's expectations and standards to host families and house parents abroad, ensuring compliance with safety and quality guidelines.
Housing Safety Checks:
- Conduct spot checks and inspections of homestay accommodations to ensure they meet the safety and quality standards established by GBA.
- Document findings and provide feedback to host families and house parents abroad, identifying areas for improvement and addressing any safety concerns.
- Collaborate with the Regional Residential Director to develop and implement protocols for addressing housing-related issues and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Residential Programming Support:
- Assist in planning and implementing enrichment programs and cultural activities for students, enhancing their overall experience and engagement in the homestay community.
- Coordinate logistics for program activities, including transportation, reservations, and resource procurement.
- Collaborate with the Regional Residential Director to evaluate the effectiveness of residential programming and make recommendations for improvements.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student housing, incidents, and communication with host families and house parents abroad.
- Prepare reports and updates for the Regional Residential Director and GBA management on housing inspections, student support activities, and program outcomes.
- Assist with logistical arrangements for student arrivals, departures, and other residential operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in student services, residential life, or cross-cultural education.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to mediate and resolve issues between diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to residential accommodations.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
- Willingness to travel locally to conduct housing inspections and spot checks.
