Summary:Electrical engineers design, develop and maintain electrical power and control systems and components to required specifications. Their work focuses on safety, quality, reliability, sustainability, and cost. Electrical engineers are involved in projects from the concept and detailed design phase, through to implementation, commissioning, start-up and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Electrical Lead on the project to execute the electrical deliverables on time and on budget.
- Work on preparing key electrical documents and drawings such as area classifications, fugitive emissions studies, single line diagrams, voltage drop, cable tray fill, and load lists.
- Provide electrical input into a detailed scope of work, design basis document and project execution plan.
- Provide input to the electrical design for a project or proposal.
- Provide input to the detailed engineering design criteria.
- Analyze the designs of vendors or subcontractors providing specific equipment.
- Provide input into project schedules.
- Prepare and/or review electrical drawings associated with the design.
- Develop and evaluate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
- Perform engineering for procurement activities including MSRQ/MSRP development, technical bid evaluation/recommendation and vendor drawing approvals.
- Perform engineering development of Construction Work Packages, including project description, construction specifications, IFC drawings and material lists.
- Provide engineering support during construction including field engineering, inspection and studies.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Must possess strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- EPCM experience is preferred.
- Candidate must be eager to learn new concepts, and have strong work ethic, with proper mentorship support and guidance.
- Must be willing to travel to site or vendor shops on occasion.
Education and Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Degree (E.I.T.) or technologist.
- Minimum 1-3 years of oil and gas experience – preferably within an EPCM.
