This individual will be responsible for taking technical leadership of hardware development projects, ensuring the design meets high-quality standards, is repeatable, and satisfies agreed-upon requirements

.Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for commercial proposals, assisting in the preparation of estimates, schedules, compliance matrices, and cost analysis for new bids.

Translate customer requirements into hardware development and verification plans.

Define and specify hardware development environments (HDE), including verification tools, debugging, and profiling tools.

Develop, implement, and maintain DO-254 processes, including SOI reviews, development plans, and checklists.

Create detailed hardware architecture and formal design structures based on user requirements.

Design electronics, hardware FPGA, and mechanical engineering solutions.

Develop and test electronic circuits and components, ensuring compliance with EMC/EMI standards and performance benchmarks.

Prepare reports on material costs, timelines, and design descriptions for electronic systems and equipment.

Conduct circuit analysis and ensure traceability from user requirements through formal design and implementation.

Oversee installation, modification, testing, and operation of electronic systems.

Troubleshoot and debug hardware circuits.

Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) at both Board and Component levels.

Integrate hardware into embedded systems, including test bench setup and customer site installation, such as on aircraft.

Lead cross-functional product development teams, collaborating with product/system engineers and software engineers.

Manage work packages and report status updates to the Hardware Engineering Manager.

Participate in program risk assessments and support mitigation strategies.

Supervise and mentor junior designers or other engineering staff.

Present hardware designs and operational details to customers.

Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum 8 years of experience in electronic product design and reliability analysis, including both digital and analog components.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Proficiency in VHDL design, DO-254, DOORS, Orcad, Matlab, and PSPICE is highly desirable.

Strong experience with technical and hardware qualifications (DO-160 and DO-254) and familiarity with control systems (e.g., Engine, Landing, and Steering Control) is an asset.

Background in high-reliability industries such as Avionics, Aerospace, Medical Devices, or similar fields is a significant advantage.

Proven leadership and management experience.

Extensive experience with industry standards, processes, and structured design environments.

Knowledge of RTCA certification standards.

Professional registration (P.Eng) in Ontario or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.

Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Project, Access, Excel).
