Position Summary:

The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing and managing the procurement of a range of products, with a focus on maintaining supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This role requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop and sustain productive supplier relationships. Experience in commodity grain trading is considered valuable, and a background in international trade is also highly beneficial given the global scope of sourcing activities. Success in this role is driven by the ability to deliver results in a performance-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist, investigate, analyze and support global strategic sourcing including evaluations, contract setup and management.
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain risks to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Stay up to date on global commodity markets, particularly in the natural and organic space.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers, maintaining a focus on quality, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, delivery and payment terms for critical items

Requirements:

  • Exceptional negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in purchasing practices
  • Strong knowledge of ERP system
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision making.
  • Strong communication skills required, with ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, especially with Excel.

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing in a food production or manufacturing setting is preferred.
