Awaken Church is a small progressive parish church in the neighbourhood of Bowness (www.awakenchurch.ca). Our church believes that working through the joys and difficulties of community life is part of what it means to be Christian. Awaken desires to be authentic and intentional in our faith. We are ever-growing in our reconciliation within ourselves, with God, one another, and the hurting world we all call home. Awaken is a growing and dynamic community and all are welcome to explore the way of Christ in this place. We value neighbourhood presence, earth care, reconciliation, and being a safe and affirming space for everyone.

Awaken is a Christian community who affirms and embraces the 2+LGBTQ community as well as women in positions of leadership, a successful candidate will need to share these values.

As the Operations Manager at Awaken Church, you will be responsible for overseeing and delegating key functions of Awaken's facilities maintenance, event management, and volunteer coordination. The position is 10 hours a week at $19-23 per hour, depending upon experience.

Key applicants will have related experience in an administrative field, be comfortable/knowledgeable with Microsoft Office products, Google Drive workspaces, Quickbooks data entry, Wix, Canva, Mailchimp, and managing correspondence and scheduling.

Job Duties

Facilities Maintenance

● Ensure the Facilities Maintenance checklist is kept up to date and followed.

● Schedule yearly maintenance jobs with our trusted vendors.

● Point of contact for any repairs or renter issues.

● Liaise with Custodians, ensuring building is adequately cleaned before and after events.

● Point of contact for Alberta Health Service kitchen inspections and compliance.

Renters/Events

● Ensure rent is paid on time and terms of agreements are being fulfilled by both parties.

● Create contracts & invoices for regular renters.

● Liaise between renters and Church Leadership, communication and resolution of issues.

● Keep Google Calendar up to date.

● Receive bookings for single use events through Facebook account.

● Give tours to prospective customers.

● Create invoices and single use contracts as needed.

● Oversee Saturday Events Coordinator.

● Schedule tech trainings for event renters.

● Maintain Rental Revenue spreadsheet.

● Track payments and damage deposit refunds.

● Meet event renters and lock up after events.

Awaken Operations

● Point of contact for Point of contact for church and community support teams.

● Ensure every Sunday is appropriately scheduled and communicate with the different volunteer Teams to fill gaps.

● Ensure the Sunday ppt has all relevant announcements inserted and has been sent out to weekly volunteers.

● Send out weekly newsletter (via MailChimp).

● maintain the website and social media accounts.

● Edit and publish weekly podcast.

● Keep website updated with upcoming events and leadership changes.

● Church Calendar scheduling.

● Support the Pastor, Board & Elders with any administrative tasks they require.

● Quickbooks expense report data entry.

● Filing & data entry.

● Host and minute-taker for all Team Meetings.

● CCLI reporting.

● Delegate decor and seasonal service planning (Advent & Lent.)

● Support the Pastor, Board & Elders with any administrative tasks they require.

● Support the logistics for yearly retreat (registration forms, tracking spreadsheets, communications, etc.)

● Maintain and update files, membership list & directory.
