Salary:

Were looking for a Tax Accountant to join our growing team at ONBusiness, a division of Gauvreau Accounting Tax Law Advisory. Reporting directly to the Tax Compliance Manager, you'll play a vital role in assisting with compliance projection and preparation and completion of work for our Tax Division in our Winnipeg office location.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare simple corporate, trust, and personal tax returns.
  • Assist with the preparation of complex trust and estate tax returns, personal tax returns, and other tax forms/schedules.
  • Prepare supporting working papers and other tax analysis as requested by the Tax Division.
  • Liaise directly with clients and the CRA on tax engagements.
  • Initiate direct communications with the CRA and other tax authorities as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax submissions and responses as required by the CRA or other tax authorities.
  • Assist with obtaining authorization with the CRA on behalf of our clients.
  • Research and follow up on various items/client issues with CRA on behalf of the Tax Department.
  • Consultation with members of the team to resolve issues raised, where necessary.
  • Obtaining good knowledge of team members and services.

Required Skills:

  • Experienced in general tax research, consulting and compliance.
  • Ability to communicate general tax information and concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to identify tax consulting opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of accounting, personal and corporate tax.
  • IT skills Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CaseWare, and Taxprep.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills (organization & prioritization).
  • Maintaining positive relationships and good knowledge of the team, services, and clients.

Qualifications:

  • An ideal candidate has between 1-2 years experience working with a public accounting firm preparing and completing files for accounting, tax, corporate tax, and personal tax for small to mid-sized clients.
  • CPA student working towards their CPA designation considered an asset.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business
