Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this role is responsible for coordinating and managing the full cycle recruitment process for all internal and external vacancies. The incumbent will provide guidance, assistance, advice and expertise to managers and employees with respect to the recruitment, selection and hiring processes while adhering to all applicable legislation, company policies and procedures and best practices.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Support and facilitate the end-to-end recruitment process as assigned, from job posting to onboarding; including supporting the review and screening of candidates and participating in the selection process with hiring managers, making recommendations for hire and presenting employment offers to successful candidates
  • Partners with hiring managers and HR Business Partner to develop and validate job descriptions, hiring needs and competencies required to develop appropriate recruitment strategies to attract high quality and diverse candidates
  • Liaise with external organizations to support recruitment opportunities (i.e. associations, post-secondary institutions)
  • Advise and assist the Hiring Manager in screening and selecting candidates for interviews, arrange interviews, prepare interview questions, conduct, and evaluate interviews, and recommend successful candidates.
  • Administer pre-employment testing, as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring reference and background checks for candidates
  • Extend and prepare employment offers to successful candidates with all required documentation; advise candidates of employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment; and communicate to unsuccessful candidates.
  • Prepare documentation required for new hires; coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Ensure recruitment documentation, files and records are accurate and maintained in a timely manner
  • Develop relationships with colleges and universities for potential co-op and internship placements.
  • Ensure all hiring activities are following the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, PIPEDA, and the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.

Corporate Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and work to improve job related standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate policies and programs.
  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements.
  • Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and other relevant legislations, SAC's Policies and Procedures, and established industry guidelines.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in human resources with a strong focus in full cycle recruitment and selection
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment related legislation pertinent to the function including the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, AODA
  • Knowledge and experience in behavioural interviewing and competency models, administration of assessments and tests, recruitment metrics, and “best practice” recruiting methods including social media,
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Superior interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently,
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check
