Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent, Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent. - 5-7+ years of experience working as an engineer in the shipbuilding or defense industry. - Knowledge of maritime Combat Systems (Above Water Weapons/Sensors, Command and Control, Underwater Warfare, Electronic Warfare, Navigation, Communications), and/or defense projects including Requirement Management, and shipyard production environment. - Demonstrated knowledge in some of the following fields: · Formal validation and verification · Engineering design processes and engineering change control · Marine regulations such as Lloyd's Register Classification of Ships · Requirements management · Verification test planning and execution · Installation and commissioning of combat systems and subsystems on complex naval platforms. · Knowledge of a shipyard production environment · Experience with naval systems integration and testing · Strong technical skills and familiarity with naval technical terminology · Experience with certification and accreditation of naval Systems - Develop presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, technical investigations on combat subsystem and physical/functional integration issues. - Strong communication with the ability to represent the owner in design meetings

Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Combat Systems Engineer to join our large defense clients in Halifax, NS. This person will join the team in a full-time role and will be required to go on-site five times a week. The Combat Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of sub-systems as well as the following: - Support the Combat Systems team in providing technical and programmatic oversight of combat systems-related activities. - Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues. - Develop mitigations for risk items relating to the combat systems capability area, including risk identification and risk mitigation planning. - Evaluate requirements and performance capabilities of combat systems to ensure solutions under their scope of work are most appropriate for the program. - Coordinate the scheduling, planning, and conduct of systems activities in support of program milestones. - Take a lead role in executing technical tasks for their designated scope of work within the Combat Systems team. - Support other transverse areas (Platform, Design for Build, Production) in developing the operational solution for the program.
