Skills and Responsibilities:
1. Application Development and Maintenance:
• Develop, modify, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Write and optimize efficient, high-quality code for batch and online processes.
• Troubleshoot and debug application issues to ensure smooth operations.
2. Database Management:
• Write and execute SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation in DB2.
• Perform database maintenance and optimization to improve performance.
3. Job Control Language (JCL):
• Create and modify JCL scripts for job scheduling and batch processing.
• Ensure jobs are running smoothly and resolve any issues that may arise.
4. Testing and Quality Assurance:
• Develop and execute unit test cases to validate application functionality.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure system reliability and performance.
5. Documentation and Support:
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for applications and workflows.
• Provide support and guidance to business users and other team members.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in project planning, estimation, and status reporting.
Key Skills and Requirements:
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in COBOL programming for developing and maintaining mainframe applications.
• Expertise in JCL for job scheduling and automation.
• Strong knowledge of DB2, including writing SQL queries and database management.
• Familiarity with mainframe tools such as ISPF, TSO, and VSAM.
