Job Description

Company Description

Genuine Tea was founded in 2015 by David O'Connor and Sarah Wilcox, Tea Sommeliers who spent five years in Taiwan and travelled to tea farms across Asia learning directly from tea farmers about tea cultivation, harvesting and processing.

Genuine Tea is a Leader in the Third Wave Tea movement in Canada and has won dozens of awards including Best Tea in Toronto and has been featured in the Globe & Mail's fastest growing 400 businesses in Canada 3 years in a row.

In 2018, Genuine Tea appeared on Dragon's Den and partnered with Arlene Dickinson and District Ventures Capital. This decision propelled Genuine Tea to a national brand sold in cafes, restaurants and grocery stores across Canada. Genuine Tea also has a rapidly growing e-commerce business and a loyal customer base of fellow tea lovers across Canada.

In 2024, Genuine Tea was acquired by GoodFood Market (TSX: FOOD) - a tech-driven e-commerce leader transforming grocery shopping with AI-powered convenience and nationwide delivery. Focused on growth, it's reshaping how Canadians eat at home. Sarah and Dave still own 20% of Genuine Tea and are actively managing daily activities.

The Role

Reporting to the co‑founders, the Social Media Content & Community Manager is the engine that powers everything we do online and IRL. You'll own our social channels end‑to‑end, steward an engaged ambassador program, shape marketing campaign strategy, and turn live moments—trade shows, demos, café activations—into scroll‑stopping stories that drive sales. If you love juggling content calendars, analytics dashboards, and a camera gimbal in equal measure, you'll fit right in!

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media & Content:

  • Plan, film, edit (CapCut & Adobe Creative Suite), schedule (Metricool), and publish daily content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Write platform‑native copy and compelling hooks; comfortably record voice‑overs and appear on‑camera when needed.
  • Optimize posts and ad creatives for conversion, partnering with paid‑media specialists to iterate on high‑performing formats.
  • Contribute fresh ideas to overarching marketing campaign strategy, collaborating with the founders and paid‑media team on concepts that span organic, paid, and experiential touch points.
  • Track KPIs weekly, build digestible performance reports, and turn insights into actionable next steps.

2. Ambassador & Affiliate Program:

  • Recruit new ambassadors and micro‑creators; nurture relationships and handle product seeding logistics.
  • Collect and repurpose UGC; ensure all creator content is on‑brand and FTC‑compliant.
  • Track sales, discount codes, and affiliate links through Shopify Collabs and Meta Business Suite; surface learnings to the team.

3. Community, Events & Email:

  • Lead day‑to‑day social listening: answer DMs, jump into comment threads, and flag real‑time trends.
  • Coordinate and attend demos, pop‑ups, and trade shows (some weekend travel); capture content on site and turn activations into buzz‑worthy reels.
  • Partner with cafés, wellness studios, and retailers on collab events that amplify our brand pillars.
  • Write engaging email copy for our monthly newsletters (Klaviyo)—from catchy subject lines to clear CTAs—using performance data to refine future sends.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3+ years' hands‑on social media experience, ideally with a CPG, beverage, or wellness brand.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field—or a track record that proves you don't need one.
  • Fluency in Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and the algorithmic quirks that make each tick.
  • Strong understanding of paid/organic synergy; you can design creatives that move effortlessly from feed to ad.
  • Proficiency with Metricool, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta Business Suite, and Shopify (incl. Shopify Collabs).
  • Proven ability to pivot seamlessly from virtual strategy sessions to on‑site promotional activities within the same day, maintaining a high level of professionalism in each setting.

Work Arrangement: This is a primarily remote position; however, you must be available for occasional travel across the GTA to capture on‑site content, attend activations, support live events, attend trade shows and other business meetings

  • Effective Communication skills
