Job Description

Job Title:

Corporate Accounting Manager – 10-Month Contract

Our client, a respected organization in the financial services sector, is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to join them on a 10-month contract to cover a maternity leave. This is a standalone role with full ownership of the finance and accounting function. The position offers a flexible hybrid work environment, with a preference for onsite presence two days a week (Mondays and Tuesdays).

Ideal for a hands-on CPA who enjoys full ownership of the finance and accounting function. Reporting to executive leadership, the Corporate Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance. The role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations independently.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial records.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close, including bank reconciliations, accruals, and P&L/Balance Sheet reviews.
  • Prepare and submit payroll on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Review and approve quarterly client management fee invoices.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual corporate and semi-annual pooled fund financial statements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and manage audit-related deliverables.
  • Ensure timely regulatory filings and remittances (HST/QST, corporate tax instalments, EHT).
  • Administer RRSP/TFSA employee contributions and related transactions.
  • Establish and maintain internal financial controls, procedures, and documentation to mitigate risk.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally in professional services such as law or consulting firms.
  • Proven ability to independently manage full-cycle accounting operations.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, payroll, and audit requirements.
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.

If you're a self-starter looking for a contract leadership opportunity where you can take full ownership of the finance function, we encourage you to apply today for immediate consideration.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
