The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, financial statements, tax returns, and coordinating audits while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. They will liaise with property managers, asset managers, and investment partners to optimize operating efficiencies, support business transactions, and provide training to junior staff.
This person will be based in our Toronto office.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE;
- Preparing journal entries, accrual entries, bank reconciliations, balance sheet items reconciliations, and overall general ledger maintenance for a portfolio of 30 entities
- Reviewing and picking up financial results prepared by subsidiaries
- Preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the monthly, quarterly and annual operational and reporting deliverables comply; including but not limited to, balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow, and notes to financial statements
- Supporting the annual audit/review process, including effective communication with the audit teams, and coordination of requirements within the internal and external accounting and property management teams
- Supporting and reviewing year-end recovery chargebacks (CAM Recoveries) and annual budgets prepared by property management teams
- Participating in monthly calls with the property managers to review financial results
- Preparing and/or reviewing Canadian tax returns and tax forms, such as T2, T5, Form
- Assisting with preparing year-end tax working papers
- Ensuring Canadian tax payments are arranged timely (corporate tax, partnership tax, and commodity tax)
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including property managers, asset managers, and investment partners, to ensure operating efficiencies and build a positive relationship
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation (preferred).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
- Experience working with a portfolio of entities, particularly in real estate or property management sectors (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex financial models and reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
