Position Title: Quality Control/ Process Manager
Location: Edmonton, AB

About
The Quality Control & Continuous Improvement Manager will report to the Vice President of Innovation & Technology to ensure products and processes meet regulatory, customer, and internal requirements. This role combines quality assurance with Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize product quality. The manager will also lead and direct quality assurance and quality control efforts.
What You'll Do
Quality
- Lead the Quality department, overseeing personnel and activities within QC and QA.
- Plan and implement strategic direction for the Quality department.
- Determine training needs for QA Supervisors and Inspectors.
- Collaborate with Plant Supervisors on manufacturing process changes.
- Enhance and implement quality management systems on the floor.
- Establish and document standard operating procedures for manufacturing.
- Review and recommend changes to manufacturing processes.
- Write Manufacturing Test Plans as required.
- Control the API Monogram.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools like 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Collaborate with SMT to standardize processes and enhance workflows.
- Encourage employee knowledge of Lean methodologies.
- Provide support and mentorship for training on Lean principles.
Management
- Establish budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Recruit, retain, reward, and develop members of the Quality Department.
- Collaborate with Quality and Plant Supervisors to determine training requirements.
- Promote professional development and strategic alignment within the Quality department.
- Manage direct reports through training, performance management, and accountability.
- Complete annual performance evaluations of direct reports.
- Promote safety following legislation.
Senior Management Team (SMT)
- Collaborate with SMT to review and refine business processes.
- Develop short-term initiatives to enhance systems and reduce waste.
- Execute long-term strategic initiatives supporting organizational objectives.
- Monitor performance and address daily issues impacting customer needs.
- Discuss corporate performance monthly with the Leadership Team.
- Set priorities, manage resources, and execute plans within timelines.
- Monitor, measure, and report on initiative progress.
- Ensure compliance with customer needs and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
- 15+ years' experience in a QA/QC position in a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
- 10+ years' experience in supervisory/managerial roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certification in Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing.
- ISO Auditor certification is an asset.
- General knowledge of products and services in the oil and gas industry.
