Job Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role is a maternity leave backfill lasting a minimum of 12 months though it could extend longer. You will be a key member of the Corporate Accounting team with primary responsibilities related to corporate accounting, finance, tax, and real estate along with supporting our Yardi Breeze implementation.

The position will be in the office 5 days per week and we offer a competitive compensation package.

Key Responsibilities

Finance and Administration

· Preparing, distributing, and addressing operating company Controller questions related to monthly divisional benefits charges, health plan charges, working capital charges, and other intercompany charges

· Preparing monthly bank account sweeps and related journal entries across our Canadian and US banks

· Preparing journal entries and supporting documents for intercompany and third-party leases, transfer pricing, and other charges

· Supporting preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property companies

· Covering reception during lunch breaks

· Ad hoc special projects

Real Estate Support

· Preparing account statements and invoicing tenants for rent, property tax, insurance, utilities, etc. along with ad hoc lease breakdowns and cost adjustments

· Monitoring leases and coordinating lease renewals

· Generating reporting on monthly rent and expense payments in Breeze Premier and in our ERP (Steel)

· Supporting our Yardi Breeze implementation and updating the software with current lease and tenant-related information

· Receiving and depositing rent cheques and following-up on past-due payments

· Reviewing and processing reimbursement requests from related and third-party tenants

· Year-end review and roll over of all leases and rental rates

· Supporting a regular bi-weekly meeting with the VP Real Estate

Corporate Tax Support

· Working with the Corporate Tax manager to ensure instalment payments are scheduled and current and that ongoing tax reviews are tracking to schedule

· Working with accounts payable to ensure that tax instalment payments for 60+ entities are made on time

· Coordinating CRA reviews and other compliance requests

· Assisting with year end procedures including GIFI import files, executing a comparative analysis of tax returns over time, updating intercompany schedules, and supporting the preparation of our consolidation package and related tax provision calculations

Requirements

· University or college degree in accounting, finance, or business or related work experience

· Minimum of 2+ years of experience in finance / accounting

· Highly collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger team

· Though not required, experience in a manufacturing environment, a general understanding of ASPE, familiarity with Yardi Breeze, familiarity with Epicor Kinetic, and / or a basic understanding of Canadian / US income tax is a plus

· Bilingual (English and French) is not required but is an asset
