About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Pipeline Engineering Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for a professional engineer with extensive experience in pipeline design, construction, and maintenance, especially within the natural gas sector. You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and support across a range of pipeline projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and construction of pipeline projects within the sustainment capital program, including distribution and high-pressure (700 kPa) systems.
- Provide expert guidance on CSA Z662 and Z245 codes, including Annex C.
- Conduct engineering assessments, feasibility studies, and detailed designs for pipeline systems.
- Offer technical support, review, and guidance to project teams and external consultants.
- Lead the interpretation and application of pipeline standards and codes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Support the development, review, and updating of engineering specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training.
Requirements:
- P.Eng with at least 6-10 years of experience, including 2-3 years on pipeline projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
- Proven expertise in CSA Z662, Z245, and related standards, with hands-on experience applying these codes.
- Strong background in pipeline design, construction, and maintenance, particularly in natural gas.
- Proficiency in engineering assessments, design reviews, and technical problem-solving.
- Advanced knowledge of welding, strain-based design, and stress analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with cost estimating and engineering scope development.
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) knowledge.
- Distribution system experience and experience working with an owner or on behalf of an owner.
- Stress analysis experience using Caesar II or equivalent.
