Product Manager

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Reporting to the President and GM, we are seeking an individual who is passionate about leadership, technology, and lifelong learning, to lead the growth our Hoist product line. If you are interested in playing a leading role in fostering a synergistic relationship with customers, vendors and the Nordstrong team, this is an ideal role for you.

As the Product Manager, you will:

  • Growth of the sales and profit of our Hoist product line by leveraging their knowledge and expertise to effectively champion and coordinate the activities of multiple departments.
  • Research technologies, industries and market needs to identify opportunities for new product development.
  • Complete return on investment analysis on the development of new products.
  • Research patents, and other intellectual property to ensure there is no infringement.
  • Lead the design and development of the hoist product line from the ground up, incorporating customer needs, market insights, and manufacturability considerations to deliver innovative and competitive solutions.
  • Define performance and qualification requirements for new products, including leading field verification and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Quality teams to identify and qualify supply base.
  • Verify design requirements fall within production capabilities, including demand versus capacity analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of advertising and promotional programs, including the creation of case studies.
  • Champion the development of pricing and product positioning strategies.
  • Conduct on-going market evaluations to calibrate current and planned product offers.
  • Complete competitive analysis of product lines and identify potential 3rd party partners to augment product lines.
  • Develop, organize, and provide product training on product capabilities and application for outside sales representatives, customers and end users.
  • Lead the development of selection and pricing software.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs including sales, margin, operating expenses, rate of take-up and warranty.

You and Your Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, registered or eligible for registration with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
  • 5+ years of experience in the design of hoist and hydraulic components and systems.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or customer support.
  • Understanding of manufacturing that involves the transformation of steel (machining, cutting, shearing, welding, painting, and assembly) into finished equipment.
  • Proficient in all MS Office (primarily Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience.
  • Deep bias for data-driven decision making.
  • Project management skills are an asset.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage individuals and teams in a collaborative work environment.
  • Must be able to travel within Canada and the US, hold a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Exceptionally detailed oriented.
  • Driven to provide outstanding customer service.
