The Role

We are seeking applicants for an Intermediate to Senior Level Structural Engineer role in our Winnipeg, Manitoba office with experience designing multi-family residential, commercial, and/or industrial buildings & structures. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in the structural field, working alongside a group of senior engineers working on multi-discipline projects in our Buildings & Spaces and Industrial markets.

Responsibilities include

  • In this role, you'll manage the structural design of multi-discipline projects from the proposal stage through to completion, including establishment and maintenance of budgets and schedules.
  • Carry out structural analysis and design for various structures including multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial buildings & structures using wood, steel, masonry, and concrete.
  • Experience with building code analysis, building science and building envelope Is considered an asset.
  • Working in a team environment with our other structural department personnel, management, and administrative staff, you will prepare all deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings and/or specifications.
  • Prepare fee proposals and assist with business development and strategic pursuits.
  • Perform structural inspections, investigations and field reviews.
  • Provide construction support and contract administration services including reviewing shop drawings and contractor's submittals.
  • Assist in the delivery of projects on time, on budget and in accordance with quality objectives.
  • As an intermediate to senior member of our structural team, you'll also mentor junior staff and manage support personnel including designers, technologists and CAD technicians as required.

About You

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structural design from a recognized university (Master's degree is considered an asset).
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in structural engineering with demonstrated technical (analysis, code and regulations reviews, design calculations, technical report writing) and project management skills (writing project progress reports, tracking budgets and maintaining schedules).
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba (Registration in other Canadian provinces or US states would be an additional asset).
  • Availability to periodically travel to project sites on an as required basis for ½ day or 1-day site visits, typically for data collection, review of construction or attendance at coordination or design review meetings.
  • Ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of a variety of different projects from clients in many different industries.
  • Strong structural analysis and engineering design skills.
  • Highly proactive with exceptional problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office. Experience with structural analysis and design software is considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills in English.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance and child/adult abuse checks.
