We are currently seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team based in the Nisku area. This role involves estimating responsibilities across a variety of projects throughout Alberta. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong safety awareness, effective communication, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to delivering high-quality work in a safety-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical projects.

  • Analyze and review drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documents.

  • Source pricing for materials, subcontractors, and third-party services.

  • Negotiate and engage with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Review and evaluate incoming quotes and bills of materials.

  • Select appropriate quotes for inclusion in final project estimates.

  • Conduct quantity take-offs and ensure strict adherence to bid submission deadlines.

  • Develop project costs based on client-provided quantities or through detailed drawing assessments.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of all estimates, take-offs, and vendor/subcontractor communications.

  • Prepare and coordinate documentation for bid bonds, insurance, and other bid-related requirements.

  • Ensure all estimates are complete, accurate, and compliant with project specifications.

  • Attend project meetings and contribute to planning and startup activities with project managers and foremen.

  • Develop bid schedules and execution plans.

  • Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Address post-bid inquiries and provide support for change order pricing.

  • Collaborate closely with estimating, operations, and management teams.

  • Engage effectively with clients, engineers, and industry stakeholders.

  • Partner with finance to support project budgeting.

  • Interpret and apply construction contracts.

  • Manage multiple concurrent bids efficiently.

  • Travel to project sites for RFP kickoffs and site evaluations.

  • Work in coordination with High Line Operations, Safety, and Environmental teams during the pre-bid process.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in construction estimating.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical construction documents, blueprints, and contracts.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam, B2W, Accubid, and related estimating software.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
