Community Engagement Coordinator
Williams Lake, BC
Based in Williams Lake, reporting to the Community Engagement Supervisor, the Community Engagement Coordinator will be the lead for Indigenous and community engagement in the Williams Lake area with responsibilities to:
You'll Do:
- Coordinate, develop and maintain progressive and positive working relationships with Indigenous and other communities,
- Assist other departments to maintain existing and develop new business relationships with Indigenous and other communities,
- Coordinate contract development for increasing business service procurement from Indigenous-owned vendors
- Coordinate local staff participation and participate personally in various Indigenous and other community engagement activities and events,
- Engage in effective communication with Indigenous communities with respect to divisional forest management and stewardship activities,
- Ensure execution of divisional consultation and community engagement strategies, including employment and training initiatives,
- Work effectively with Woods staff to ensure that commitments made are implemented and fulfilled,
- Assist with scheduling and facilitating meetings between Indigenous communities and divisional staff to refer forestry and stewardship activities,
- Ensure that all referral, info-sharing and engagement activity is properly documented, and,
- Help facilitate employment opportunities between local Indigenous community members and the 3 WF manufacturing facilities in the South Cariboo through programs such as the Indigenous Internship program.
You'll Have:
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a related role would be an asset.
- Post-secondary education, preferably in forestry, natural resource management, Indigenous relations, or related fields.
- High motivation and team-oriented individual with strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in the drafting of agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity and understanding of Indigenous cultures and history within the region.
- Knowledge and understanding of forest management practices and government policies and guidelines related to indigenous consultation and engagement would be an asset.
- Ability to travel and undertake occasional weekend or evening work as required.
Compensation Package:
- The salary range for this position may vary beyond this range depending on experience and education. The expected yearly salary range is between $$87,000-$106,000.
