Summer Day Camp Support Leaders

Opportunity:
We are in search of enthusiastic and energetic Summer Day Camp 1:1 Support Leaders to provide support and assistance with the physical, social, and emotional skill development of a child who requires extra support. Reporting to the Summer Camp Coordinator and Camp Supervisors, a successful candidate will have experience working with children with extra or additional support needs.
Responsibilities:
The Summer Day Camp Support Leaders are responsible for providing support for individual children, including, but not limited to:
· Works closely with a child that needs extra support to ensure a successful Summer Day Camp experience, including guiding the child's behavior and encouraging / assisting the child to participate in activities to the best of their ability.
· Develops, engages and implements developmentally appropriate activities and experiences.
· Work with Supported Child Development to acquire resources for children requiring extra support.
· Complete Monthly Support Time sheets.
· Review and implement Care Plans for children requiring extra support.
· Ensures the child's environment is healthy and safe.
· Ensures positive communication with children and families.
· Contributes to the ongoing operation of the Summer Day Camp program.
· Performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Program Manager as needed.
Required Qualifications:
· Must be at least 19 years old
· Training and/or experience relating to guiding challenging behavior's or working with children who need extra support (e.g. neurodivergent)
· One of the following: A School Age Care Certificate, Education Assistant Certificate or a 20 Hour Responsible Adult training certificate
· Solid experience in a similar environment where comfortability managing transitions or communication challenges has been part of the role
· A current safety oriented first aid and CPR certificate (minimum 8-hour course)
· A clear criminal record check
Contract Details:
Hourly Wage Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour (commensurate with qualifications & experience)
Employment: this position is for the Summer Camp period from June 30 to August 22, 2025.
· Working hours are from 8:45 am to 4:15 pm (7.5 hours/day), Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays (July 1st and August 4th).
· The schedule and contract duration will follow the child's attendance. For example, if the child is registered for one week or five weeks, the support leader will work only during that time.
· Attendance at a mandatory paid training session is required on June 21st, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (includes a 1-hour unpaid break).
· Vacation pay as a percentage of wages will be paid out on each pay cheque.
