The Staff Accountant is responsible for the maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports, including monthly bank reconciliations. This position involves general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. Responsibilities will include coding transactions, reconciling sub-ledgers and accounts, providing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing financial reports, and completing month-end reporting and related transactions. Your contributions to the team:
- Responsible for ensuring all business transactions, accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations are competed in a timely manner
- Assist in preparing monthly and year-end financial statements and all routine working papers and spreadsheets
- Perform bank reconciliations ensuring transactions are properly recorded
- Maintain and update Policies and Procedures Manual for routine and complex accounting transactions
- Remain current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends and the impacts on the organization's financial statements
- Collaborate with the Regional Managers and Regional teams to ensure their transactions are properly reflected in the financial records
- Manage monthly budgets ensuring approved funds are spent, reconciling balances, communicating with the regional teams on the status of jobs
- Review the budget and financial forecasts and analyze the actual to budget report variances
- Build strong rapport and relationships with internal staff
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments, keeping managers informed of job progress
- Develop a thorough understanding of Broadstreet's operations and businesses
What you need to be successful:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred—but equivalent experience in full-cycle accounting will also be considered
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Great attention to detail
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning
- Excellent communication skills
- Assertive, good interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as a team
- Must be able to work within defined deadlines

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office with a high proficiency in Excel
- General understanding of various computerized accounting systems and ERPs
- Interest in working toward a CPA designation is a strong asset
