The Spirit of the Position:
The Cashier Lot Attendant is a frontline ambassador for the parking experience at Victoria International Airport (YYJ). As the first and last point of contact for many travelers, this role demands excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. Attendants operate booths, patrol lots, provide guest support, and enforce parking rules to ensure a seamless and safe experience for all customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet all parkers warmly, answer inquiries, and provide directions or clarification as needed whether in the booth or lots.
- Routinely patrol parking lots to:
- Assist customers at gates and pay stations
- Monitor and report any safety or equipment issues
- Pick up litter and maintain overall lot cleanliness
- Identify and report unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles
- Assist with enforcement efforts as directed, including issuing notices or supporting license plate recognition (LPR) checks.
- Operate payment equipment (e.g., SKIDATA, Flowbird systems) and handheld POS devices to complete transactions securely and accurately.
- Provide support to the rest of the parking operations team, including during overflow periods, curbside congestion, or equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain open communication via radio or handheld device with managers and coworkers during shifts.
Experience:
- Strong customer service experience.
- Cash handling experience is required.
- Parking industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Willingness to be flexible, work multiple facility locations.
- Ability to handle challenging and at times, emotionally charged situations.
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to make decisions independently and stay firm on decisions made (not easily persuaded).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work takes place both indoors (booths) and outdoors for extended durations potentially the full shift across various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Required to lift/move small equipment or supplies as needed.
- Exposure to vehicle traffic and environmental noise is expected.
