Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design of advanced water electrolyser products. In this pivotal role, you will drive the conceptual and detailed design of power, instrumentation, and control systemsplaying a key role in shaping the next generation of clean hydrogen solutions.

Youll collaborate across teams to ensure our products integrate seamlessly with customers' balance of plant systems and facilities. From early design through to manufacturing, commissioning, and field service, youll be instrumental in delivering high-performance, reliable solutions that accelerate the global energy transition. This position reports directly to the Lead I&C System Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on engineering to develop, implement and service all electrical aspects of product development, product delivery and service, including:
    • Develop specifications, drawings, and layouts for hydrogen products and supporting facilities.
    • Create test procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and user/maintenance manuals.
    • Participate in risk analyses and develop mitigation plans.
    • Support the assembly of test equipment and execution of electrical modifications at facilities or customer sites.
    • Assist with field installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
    • Provide technical support to business development and product development teams.
  • Provide technical support to business development and product development teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical and controls components.
  • Ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing testing capabilities.
  • Lead electrical design activities during product delivery phases.
  • Support service and maintenance efforts both in-house and at customer locations.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and clients to ensure coordinated and integrated designs.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, confidence, and enthusiasm.

Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng designation from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and servicing of low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems, preferably within the hydrogen, natural gas, or chemical industries.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a hazardous materials environment (Class 1 Div 2 (C1D2) exposure proof experience) is required.
  • Proven expertise in MCC design, short circuit analysis, ground grid and bonding design, arc-flash and mitigation studies, and protective device coordination.
  • At least 3 years of experience in designing and commissioning industrial control systems, including HMI and SCADA; this experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in both fieldwork and design for explosive (hazardous) environments in North America; international experience (Europe or other regions) is an asset.
  • Experience with electrical and control panels certifications in an OEM environment.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications and testing procedures for high-power rectifiers, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), and other electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN software for designing electrical schematics is an asset.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Adept in MS Office applications Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project.
