Position Overview:
The Corporate Accountant is responsible and accountable for supporting the finance and accounting operations of the Inland Group, including month end close and the production of monthly financial reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
• Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all provincial and federal rules and regulations;
• In all activities, uphold and instill in others the principles and values of our Corporate Mission while driving and maintaining a high level of efficiency and productivity;
• Abide by Inland's procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
• Analyze and prepare financial statements that comply with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise;
• Complete month-end closing; Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
• Provide support to site managers and staff with regards to monthly financial results;
• Collect and report daily and monthly activity (de-icing events, collection);
• Assist with preparation for external and internal audits as required;
• Assist with annual budget preparation;
• Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties;
• Promote the best interest of the Company by fostering goodwill and support between Inland and its customers ensuring
that Inland's policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;
• Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;
• Perform/complete other additional projects, duties, and assignments as required and/or by request.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Certified Public Accounting designation or working towards Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred;
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting, business administration or relevant post-secondary education and a combination of continuing education and experience;
• 2+ years of progressive work experience in an accounting role;
• Strong attention to detail and analytical ability;
• Above average written and oral communication skill;
• Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs;
• Ability to self-manage multiple, simultaneous projects on deadline;
• Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;
• Ability to exhibit sound judgement and confidentiality;
• Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers.
Work Environment:
• The Corporate Accountant job will be performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
• There may be times when the Corporate Accountant will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.
Physical Demands:
• Position involves remaining seated for extended periods of time using a computer, keyboard and mouse;
• Position involves bending, using hands to lift files/documents and open cabinets;
