We are looking for a Major Capital Repair and New Construction Project Manager
to join our dynamic leadership team where you'll be the driving force behind our diverse construction projects. We're looking for a proactive and experienced individual who can lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
How You Will Make an Impact
As the Project Manager on our team, you will play a crucial role in the successful management and implementation of our construction projects, encompassing a wide array of responsibilities. Your role as Project Manager is integral to success, blending technical expertise, leadership, communication skills, and strategic thinking. We anticipate your valuable contributions will significantly drive our construction projects towards excellence.
One of your key responsibilities will be leading the project planning phase, which includes defining the scope, setting objectives, and outlining deliverables.
You will be tasked with creating detailed work plans; comprising of schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocation, thus laying the groundwork for successful project implementation. You will be responsible for and/or participate in the evaluation and selection of key personnel, such as General Contractors, Architects, Trades, and Engineers; ensuring the right team is in place for each project.
Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating closely with the Procurement Department, adhering to provincial, agency and contract procurement rules and directives as well as ensure the smooth and cost-effective acquisition of necessary resources and services.
Contract management is also a pivotal aspect of your role, where you will negotiate with and monitor various stakeholders to secure good outcomes that directly impact the project's financial health and quality.
Financial oversight is a key responsibility, where you will manage budgets and monitor expenditures to keep projects within financial limits. Ensuring high-quality standards in construction work is crucial for client satisfaction - your role involves effective communication and reporting, regularly updating stakeholders on project progress and incorporating senior management feedback. Issue resolution and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the project lifecycle are also essential for transparency and effective project management.
Upon project completion, you will conduct a comprehensive post-construction review, analyzing successes and areas for improvement, which will be invaluable for future projects.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Ideally, post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field and 5 years commercial construction project management experience or minimum of 10 years of commercial construction project management experience, including new builds.
- PMP Certification and/or Change Management training desirable.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of commercial construction materials, processes, and equipment.
- Familiarity with construction software like Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar is an asset.
- Proficient understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
